Clayton didn’t make too many waves on The Bachelorette as a suitor, but ABC producers are still banking on his good-guy persona to carry Season 26 of The Bachelor. On The Bachelorette’s After the Final Rose special on Dec. 21, the 28-year-old Echard—a medical/orthopedic sales rep who was briefly signed to the Seattle Seahawks!—said, “I really hope that people just give me a shot, because my journey is authentic, I really did give my very best and I think people will see that be put on display.” This season’s success isn’t totally up to Clayton, of course; the 31 women who show up to the Bachelor mansion have to do their part. And judging by the Season 26 trailer, it’s a season that’s packed with bickering, tears and the kind of drama Bachelor Nation lives for. And one of the early standouts is contestant Susie Evans. Susie is an actual beauty queen, for starters; her reign as Miss Virginia USA 2020 just ended in July 2021. Friend and Bachelor in Paradise alum Caelynn Miller-Keyes is already betting on her to win. “Caelynn has a good friend that’s on the season as well, and Caelynn is convinced that her friend will either win or become the next Bachelorette,” says Caelynn’s partner, fellow Bachelor in Paradise alum Dean Unglert. Caelynn may be right; Bachelor Nation blog Reality Steve shared that (Warning: medium-sizedspoiler ahead!!) Susie will be one of the final three ladies still vying for Clayton’s heart at the end of this season. But she’s got a fight on her hands: In the Season 26 trailer, Clayton reveals that he’s actually in love with not one, not two, but three women on the show. Who is Susie Evans on The Bachelor Season 26?
“Never doing what I’m supposed to,” is the way the vivacious pageant winner introduces herself in her Instagram bio. Susie hails from Virginia Beach, Virginia, and has done her best to stand out in her home state for a decade. She was Miss Virginia Teen USA in 2011, where she made the case that she was ready to win the national contest because she could “take on any adventure that’s put in front of me.” Susie continued doing pageants, ultimately winning the crown at the Miss Virginia USA 2020 competition. But that doesn’t mean Susie was always calm and collected in front of other people. “I always wanted to be a performer but had terrible stage fright growing up,” she states on her Pageant Planet page. “So it helped me gain confidence onstage!” Susie is also a Brazilian jiu-jitsu champ, according to her ABC bio—she’s said it’s one of her “greatest passions”—and, according to her LinkedIn, has interned and volunteered for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America.

Susie has her own company, Susie Evans Media, where she works as a videographer. The business “started when I started to really incorporate my love and passion for advocacy into my video projects and I started to use my film and video production skills to empower women and create powerful stories that would make an impact,” she’s said. Today, she records mostly weddings and other special events. According to her Bachelorette biography, Susie “would love to be a documentary filmmaker one day.” Susie is alsoa fitness coach for a company called Body By Craig, which offers pageant prep and “individualized body sculpting for stage and performance training for athletics."
