Last night, Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak experienced one of those moments when he mistakenly solved a puzzle right in front of a contestant. At the Bonus Round, Jeffrey, the contestant, had to guess a two word phrase that contained six blanks. The letters on the screen were “_ _ _ TE and RAN_L” Before Jeffrey gave his guess Sajak said, “Yikes. Well I’d rather be standing here than there” and then mumbled “quite frankly.” It turned out that the answer to the puzzle was “Quite Frankly.” But Jeffrey didn’t notice and did not guess correctly. During their after-show banter White asked Sajak “Did you hear what you said?” Sajak who is in his 39th year as host of Wheel of Fortune admitted that he noticed the slip up moments after. “I did right after I said it,” he admitted. “I wonder how many people at home caught it.” Always a good sport, Sajak went on to credit the focused contestant. “It goes to show you that people are concentrating and they’re not paying any attention to me. It’s funny what your mouth will say that your brain says you shouldn’t do that.” Next, watch a player solve 27-letter puzzle with only one letter showing.
