When is The Matrix Resurrections coming out?
The Matrix Resurrections will be released on Wed., Dec. 22, 2021.
Is there a second trailer for The Matrix Resurrections?
Yes, check out the kinetic trailer below. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
Who is in the Matrix Resurrections cast?
The large and star-studded ensemble cast includes returning members of the Matrix franchise, plus some fresh faces:
Keanu Reeves as Thomas Anderson/Neo
Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in a so-far unnamed role rumored to be young Morpheus
Daniel Bernhardt as Agent Johnson
Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe
The supporting cast includes Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christina Ricci, Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff, Stephen Graham and Jessica Henwick .
How do I watch the Matrix movies in order?
In order of release and story: The Matrix (1999), The Matrix Reloaded (2003), The Matrix Revolutions (2003) and finally The Matrix Resurrections (2021).
What are the Matrix movies about?
The Matrix films are set in a dystopian future where A.I. has overtaken humanity, with many souls now trapped in the titular false-reality program. The protagonists fight the machines in the bleak real world and in the Matrix, where the laws of physics only mean so much (thus, mind-blowing action scenes that frankly re-set the bar).
What is the plot of The Matrix Resurrections?
Not surprisingly, all major MatrixResurrections plot elements are under wraps for now. In the tantalizing new trailer, we see a middle-aged Thomas Anderson (no longer Neo) talking with a therapist (Harris) in crisis. He’s firmly in the Matrix again. He meets Trinity (Moss) afresh; surely, they’re destined to fall back in love and rise against the machines once again. This appears to be a direct sequel and soft reboot designed to remind fans of what made the series popular in the first place, not unlike The Force Awakens and 2018’s Halloween.
Are Neo and Trinity dead?
(Warning! Spoilers for The Matrix original trilogy ahead!) Though it certainly would appear they sacrificed themselves for Zion in the divisive (let’s face it, pretty wan and disappointing) Revolutions, Neo and Trinity are very much alive in the Matrix now. On reprising the iconic role of “The One,” Reeves has said, “Lana Wachowski wrote a beautiful script and a wonderful story that resonated with me. That’s the only reason to do it.’
Is Agent Smith in The Matrix Resurrections?
Unless the picture has a card up its sleeve, Hugo Weaving is not slated to appear as the iconic, love-to-hate him evil program. While Smith was titanic and memorably malicious in the original masterpiece, there were multiple Smiths in the second and third films; the novelty dissipated.
Is Laurence Fishburne in The Matrix Resurrections?
Similarly, despite being one of three leads in the original trilogy, Laurence Fishburne’s Morpheus is not set to appear in Resurrections. Morpheus survived Revolutions and brought Zion to salvation; he was later killed off in the expansive online game The Matrix Online (frankly it’s unclear if that’s now canon or not).
