When does The Amazing Race 33 premiere?
The Amazing Race 33 premiered on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.
When did The Amazing Race 33 film?
It’s a complicated question! Season 33 technically began filming back in February 2020. But about three legs into shooting, the coronavirus pandemic began to take the world by storm, shuttering international travel and activities worldwide. As a result, The Amazing Race had to halt production and send its cast and crew home. However, though without an official announcement, production seemed to resume in September 2021.
Who has been eliminated on The Amazing Race?
Week 1 Amazing Race elimination: Michael Norwood and Moe Badger, Jr.
The boys in blue were left feeling blue by the end of their time in London. Singing police officers Michael and Moe were able to stay in tune with the rest of the teams in the beginning of the first leg. But their failure to have attention to detail during a graffiti Detour ended up being their undoing. When their cab driver gave them wrong directions to their last clue, that spelled their doom.
Week 2 Amazing Race elimination: Arun and Natalia Kumar
Lifelong Amazing Race fans Arun and Natalia were coming off a top three finish in the previous leg, ready to continue that trajectory. Unfortunately, things hit a wall in Scotland. After getting lost, Natalia offered to help the other teams in the Roadblock, and who ended up passing them due to their further navigational difficulties. They fell into last when Arun struggled with performing a traditional song and dance, ending their Amazing Race tune only a couple of verses in.
Week 3 Amazing Race elimination: Michael Norwood and Moe Badger, Jr.
Michael and Moe were brought back along with fellow eliminated team Arun and Natalia Kumar to help fill in the gap from the four teams that couldn’t make it back to resume the race. And things began to be looking up for them for the first time on the race, as they left for the Detour in first place. But a crucial error while creating a belt hammered home their fate, as they were eliminated for the second time.
Week 4 Amazing Race elimination: No one!
Arun and Natalia came in last. But luckily it was a non-elimination leg, so they were spared being eliminated for the second time in a season.
Week 5 Amazing Race elimination: Akbar and Sheri Cook
After finding themselves in the back of the pack for the majority of the race, inspirational educators Akbar and Sheri finally had their race come short in Corsica.
Week 6 Amazing Race elimination: No one!
No one! After a foot race to the pit stop, Arun and Natalia Kumar finished in last yet again. But they were saved yet again by a non-elimination leg.
Week 7 Amazing Race elimination: Lulu and Lala Gonzalez
After having a rough go in the first few legs, Lulu and Lala came back to the race with a renewed sense of purpose after losing their grandmother. After starting off strong, they fell to the back of the pack again. And in Greece, they got so lost they accomplished a rarity on The Amazing Racee, visiting the pit stop before doing the second half of the leg. Unfortunately, getting turned around cost them the million dollars, as they couldn’t recover.
Week 8 Amazing Race elimination: No one!
Dusty and Ryan finished in last place. However, they were informed this was the final non-elimination leg of the season, meaning they would still be in the running.

Who won The Amazing Race 33?
Kim and Penn Holderness were the season’s oldest team, but also its most consistent. In the final leg, they fell to second place early on, but never stayed out of eyeshot of the leaders. In the last memory task, Kim’s picture-perfect attention to detail was what gave them that final surge to charge ahead and, to their surprise, become the winners of this season.
When did The Amazing Race resume filming?
CBS gave an update to season 33 filming at its virtual TCA press tour in September 2021. “The Amazing Race will be back this season,” said Senior Executive Vice President, Programming, CBS Entertainment Thom Sherman. And indeed, it looks like things got back on track! On Sept. 16, a YouTube video was posted of an official Amazing Race branded plane landing at LAX airport. So we can assume that filming for The Amazing Race resumed around that time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4afj1q2lvJw
How did The Amazing Race resume filming?
It’s a good question! Variety reports that season 33 had filmed three legs through England and Scotland before production shuttered. From what we’ve gathered, it appears as if the race is just starting over again, flying out of L.A. along a different route than previously planned. Unverified sources say that many of the teams from the original run are returning, or not all. As mentioned above, the newly-branded Amazing Race plane may be the answer to how the show is going to film during the pandemic. One of the biggest parts of the show is the international travel and long flights they take on their race around the world. Herding all the teams onto one plane between each country would be an effective way to lessen the risk of exposure rather than flying with strangers.

Who is the cast for The Amazing Race 33?
The full cast of The Amazing Race 33 was announced on December 10, 2021:
Akbar Cook Sr. and Sheridan “Sheri” Cook - Married educators from Martinsville, N.J.
Akbar, 45, and Sheri, 44, have been married for 17 years with three children. They met in college, both playing Division 1 basketball. They hope their time in education has given them the patience to run a successful race and take home the million dollars for both their children and students.
Anthony Sadler and Spencer Stone - Childhood friends from Sacramento, Calif.
Anthony and Spencer, both 29, are friends who share both an apartment and a harrowing travel story. In 2015, during a European train ride, they were part of an effort to successfully subdue an armed Moroccan terrorist. Their heroic actions earned them medals from the French and American presidents, as well as a 2018 film based on those events.
Arun Kumar and Natalia Kumar - Father and daughter from Detroit, Mich.
Arun, 56, and Natalia, 28, are Day 1 fans of The Amazing Race, living their dream by coming onto the show. Arun grew up in India, hoping his worldliness will give him a leg up. Natalia went onto the show intending to get a nice early wedding gift of one million dollars for her upcoming nupitals.
Caro Viehweg and Ray Gantt - Dating from Los Angeles and Toms River, N.J., respectively
Caro, 23, and Ray, 25, met each other on Love Island U.S. season, where they finished in third place. The couple is used to traveling long distances, considering they’re currently on two different coasts. But they have a big incentive to win: If they take home the million, Ray has promised to move out to L.A.
Connie Griener and Sam Greiner - Married couple from Charlotte, N.C.
Connie, 37, and Sam, 39, are ready for the Wednesday Night Lights of The Amazing Race. High school football coach Sam has not had his team win a championship in 60 years, but he’s hoping to earn one on the race. He and Connie are running for their family, including their star quarterback student who they brought into their home years ago.
Kim Holderness and Penn Holderness - Internet personalities from Raleigh, N.C.
Kim, 45, and Penn, 47, took a leap of faith when they quit their jobs as news anchors to become YouTube creators. It was a risk that paid off, as their viral videos like “Christmas Jammies” have earned them millions of followers. They’ve left their famous family behind to explore their relationship in a new way on the race.
Marianela “Lulu” Gonzalez and Marissa “Lala” Gonzalez - Twins and radio hosts from North Bergen, N.J.
Lulu and Lala, both 37, work for iHeart Radio and are ready to step away from the studio. They hope their connection as twins will keep them in step during the many steps they’ll take around the world. Their five years of work at a hardware store also makes them not afraid to get their hands dirty (though perhaps that’s more appropriate for another Phil Keoghan show).
Michael Norwood and Armonde “Moe” Badger - Singing police officers from Buffalo, N.Y.
Michael, 36, and Moe, 42, may be two different sizes, but they find harmony due to their shared passion for their careers and music. Michael prepared for the race perhaps the most out of any contestant, doing his homework as well as losing 50 pounds in the lead-up.
Raquel Moore and Cayla Platt - Flight attendants from Chicago, Ill. and Gulf Breeze, Fla., respectively
Raquel, 31, and Cayla, 30, are naturally accustomed to travel, given their day to day. They assume many teams will guess they’ll be first out of the race, and they hope to use that judgment to their advantage to prove them wrong.
Ryan Ferguson and Dusty Harris - Best friends from Columbia, Mo.
Ryan, 37, and Dusty, 38, met in junior high and became fast friends. Unfortunately their relationship was put on pause when Ryan was wrongly convicted for a crime he did not commit, spending 10 years behind bars. The two are using this opportunity to make up for lost time as they race around the world.
Taylor Green-Jones and Isaiah Green-Jones - YouTube sensations from Portland, Ore.
Married couple Taylor, 38, and Isaiah, 31, went viral for their use of a flash mob in their 2019 wedding. Though they have only been to Mexico, they hope to slip under the radar to dance their way to the final leg.
