Check out more information about the results from tonight’s finale episode below.
Who won Survivor 42?
Maryanne Oketch
Maryanne is of the most unique characters in Survivor history, having a talkative and bubbly personality that her her fellow players and Jeff Probst often times in stitches. Through that she was able to craft an unassuming perception, until it was the right time to strike. In organizing the votes against Omar, she made a crucial move that set herself up to be guaranteed to sit in the Final 3. And once she got there, her explanation of weaponizing her reputation and advantages gave her a resounding near-unanimous win.
Who was eliminated on Survivor 42 tonight?
Mike Turner
Mike continually beat the drum of playing with honesty, loyalty, and integrity. But unfortunately, those beats came back to bite him. He did impressively betray people along the way to Day 26. But the jury called him out for his hypocrisy, sinking his chances. He got one vote from Jonathan, giving him the silver medal.
Romeo Escobar
Romeo had two very different games, going from the top premerge to the bottom postmerge. From there, the pageant coach was in self-preservation mode, scraping by despite always being an option to vote off. In the last two days, he attempted to take the game by the reins, making a fake idol and winning the final Immunity Challenge. But it was unfortunately too little too late in the eyes of the jury, who shut him out.
Jonathan Young
By Day 25, Jonathan had built himself up to be known for two things: Challenge prowess and camp skills. Unfortunately, they both betrayed him when he needed them most. He lost the final Immunity Challenge to Romeo, who put him into the firemaking challenge with Mike. And despite the skills he showed off to make flame the entire season, the firefighter proved to be the fire master, making Jonathan the final jury member.
Lindsay Dolashewich
After losing her tightest ally last week, Lindsay saw the sharks were circling. Though she found a clutch challenge advantage, she lost out at safety by one puzzle piece to Mike. Not giving up, she attempted to pitch herself to the idol holders to protect her. But they ultimately felt she was too big of a threat, making her an easy unanimous vote.
Was there a reunion show for Survivor 42?
Yes! As was the case with season 41, Survivor 42 did have a reunion following the winner reveal, albeit in a different way than many seasons before it. The jury votes were read on the island right after they were cast. Then the finalists and jury came together to debrief about the season. As host and executive producer Jeff Probst told Parade, the decision was made on location to not deprive the contestants an opportunity to debrief if the COVID-19 situation had not let up by May to allow for live events.
Will Survivor return for season 43?
Yes! CBS confirmed with their upfronts presentation last week that Survivor would be returning for season 43 this fall in its usual Wednesday night spot. Next, read our interview with Omar Zaheer, who was voted out in Survivor 42 Episode 12.
