Heughan, who just wrapped production on Text For Youin London, has returned to Scotland to step back into Jamie Fraser’s boots. He shared this morning: “We’re BACK!! @Outlander_STARZ Season 6 shooting! Feel very fortunate to be working right now, production are ensuring everyone is safe and protected. Now just need to deal with the snow….” It was reported last month that a private COVID testing center had been constructed at the Wardpark Film Studios, where the drama is filmed to ensure the cast and crew’s safety while moving ahead with the season. And it was by no means cheap. The cost of building the center was more than £150,000 ($203,833 in U.S.D.), according to the Daily Record. Starz also released a start of production video that gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at the preparation that went into getting the costumes, the sets, the props and more ready before the cast showed up to begin work. Season 6 of Outlander will be based on Gabaldon’s A Breath of Snow and Ashes. It will pick up with events that take place after Jamie and the men of Fraser’s Ridge rescued Claire from the clutches of Lionel Brown as they continue to deal with the trials and tribulations of life in colonial America. The Revolutionary War is drawing closer and Jamie has a difficult balance to maintain. He must pretend to be loyal to the Crown because Fraser’s Ridge was established on land granted to him by the Crown, while secretly supporting the colonists, especially as he already knows the outcome of the war thanks to Claire. According to Starz: “If Season 4 asked ‘What is home?’ and Season 5 asked, ‘What are you willing to do to protect your home?’ then Season 6 explores what happens when there is disharmony and division among the inhabitants of the home you’ve created: when you become an outsider, or an ‘outlander,’ so to speak, marginalized and rejected in your own home.” Looking for more from the Starz show?
