The King, 73, and Camilla, 75, were seen being greeted by city leaders at Micklegate Bar with tons of visitors there to celebrate their arrival until one protester began heaving eggs at the royal couple.  In a video of the incident shared to Twitter, Charles is seen looking down at one of the eggs thrown his way after it smashed on the ground, although he didn’t appear to be fazed by the situation, even when booing chants erupted. One of the staffers accompanying the monarch rushed to the the King’s defense, grabbing a hold of his arm in an apparent attempt to protect him once the chaos broke out. Camilla seemed to look back in the direction of the thrower before continuing on with the rest of their walkabout.  “About five eggs he’d managed to send,” witness Kim Oldfield told the BBC after the incident. “Camilla sort of flinched a little bit when the booing started, but [police] quelled it really quickly. Just a shame they spoilt what was a lovely moment.” The man throwing the eggs was quickly detained by four police officers, and was also heard shouting, “This country was built on the blood of slaves,” per the report from the Northern Echo.  Other people in the crowd spoke out in defense of the King, with chants or “God save the King” and “Shame on you,” directed at the protester.  WPA Pool/Getty Images According to the outlet, Charles and Camilla are visiting York for multiple engagements, including the unveiling of a statue of Queen Elizabeth II, the first to be erected since her death.  More News:
