In a Nintendo Direct Mini released on June 28, Bandai Namco announced that a remake of the 1999 classic, PAC-MAN WORLD, would be released across multiple platforms later this summer. In 1999, PAC-MAN WORLD debuted the little yellow guy’s 3D caricature as we all have come to know and love—and the reboot promises to be nothing less than a-MAZE-ing. Players can expect updated graphics, enhanced gameplay, and a slew of new features, from new moves to better visuals and trickier puzzles. Here’s the rundown: In this modernized classic video game, PAC-MAN returns home to find Ghosts have kidnapped his entire family and ruined his birthday party. PAC-MAN must explore the six areas of Ghost Island, target enemies with PAC Dots, and face-off against the ultimate boss, TOC-MAN, to rescue his family. Additionally, the reboot features multiple gameplay modes, Quest Mode and Maze Mode, which allow players to explore the main campaign or train their brain with a series of 3D puzzles in Maze Mode. Players who complete Quest Mode will also unlock “Original Mode” which features PAC-MAN WORLD in its original, untouched beauty. According to officials, PAC-MAN WORLD RE-PAC is set to release on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox Series & Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on August 26.
